Listen to David Litt HERE.
Former Obama speechwriter David Litt and I talk about his candid memoir, Thanks, Obama: My Hopey, Changey White House Years. He reflects on a time when fact-checking was an integral part of Whitehouse protocol, climate change was acknowledged as a real thing, and presidents not only turned up to the White House Correspondents’ Dinners—they also performed comic skits with Keegan-Michael Key. He also reveals how he arrived at the White House at 24 years-old (one of the youngest White House speechwriters in history) to eventually become Obama’s go-to comedy writer. David even sings for us in this episode, so it’s a memorable and special one.
